I had the biggest crush on this guy for years. He always came off as being a compassionate and kind individual. I remember when the opportunity to possibly get to know him presented itself. I prayed to God letting him know that I wanted to be with this guy but only if my hearts desires were truly aligned with what God wanted and had in store for me. I informed God that if being with this guy did not align with his divine plan for me, that I didn’t want the opportunity to be with this guy at all.

After finally speaking to this guy, I noticed that I was the only one making an effort to engage in conversation with him and keep the conversation going by asking him questions about himself that I was curious to know. He answered every question I asked politely but did not stop to take one moment and get to know me. It was in that moment that I realized that he simply was not interested in me.

I remember being at home and crying about this situation asking God what was wrong with me. I questioned my beauty, my stature, my intelligence, my personality, etc. I told God that I trusted him and understood that eventually what he has for me would come into my life but I continued crying. In all honesty, I was simply hurt. This was a time in my life when I was truly able to recognize the agonizing pains that rejection has the ability to cause.

Have you ever been rejected by someone you had feelings for? Have you ever been rejected socially by a group of individuals that made you feel like an outsider? Have you ever been rejected by close family members? Have you ever been rejected from the school of your dreams? Have you ever been rejected from the career of your dreams?

As I reflected on rejection and turned to my bible I found these words written in the bible multiple times: “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;” (Psalm 118:22 NIV, Matthew 21: 42 NIV, Mark 12:10 NIV, Luke 20:17 NIV, Acts 4:11, 1 Peter 2:6-7).

For me, this scripture became a simple reminder that reinforced the importance of me knowing my worth, even in my times of rejection.

Rejection is something that we have all grappled with at some point in time throughout our lives and that we will continuously face in our futures. A quote that I once read somewhere stated: “Man’s rejection is God’s protection”.

When you are rejected, take the time to acknowledge your feelings and deal with them accordingly but don’t harvest any remorse or hard feelings about the situation because it did not go the way you intended for it to go. Trust that God never loses sight of the Destiny in store for your future and accept the fact that rejection has to take place in order for God to reserve the stone (you) that the builders (man) have rejected because God already knows that you are a precious cornerstone.

In the month of May I challenge everyone reading this post to remind themselves of their true value every time they feel rejected. Keep things moving simply because you understand that God has already accepted you and has intentions on letting mankind reject you in order to protect and reserve you for greater works ahead.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being who you are. We love you and want you to know that we are grateful for the numerous blessings that you provide in our lives on a daily basis. Thank you for peace, thank you for happiness, thank you for great health, and thank you for protection.  We pray that any time we are faced with rejection that you may remind us that we are the cornerstones who though rejected by man have already been accepted by you. Remind us that our value was never meant to be measured, defined, or validated by man simply because we have already been accepted by you God. Guard our minds and guard our hearts so that all faultiness may be constricted and all feelings of remorse may not exist within us due to rejection. We trust you and know that your future plans for us exceed anything that we could possibly fathom. We lift up your holy name and give you great praise Lord. This is our prayer we pray in Jesus name, Amen.
